Rolling Stones, Amy Winehouse Among UK Vinyl Bestsellers Of 2020

The Official Charts Company has published its list of the UK’s bestselling vinyl release during 2020, as sales in the format climbed for a 13th consecutive year.
Titles by Amy Winehouse, the Rolling Stones, Queen and Billie Eilish were among the year’s strong performers. Trade body the BPI reports that vinyl sales during the past 12 months were up by 11.5% year-on-year to 4.8 million.
Fleetwood Mac’s perennial Rumours was the UK’s bestselling album on vinyl during 2020, with the OCC confirming 32,500 annual sales in the format. The 1977 classic continues to hold a place in the weekly all-genre album chart, currently up 44-28 in its 869th appearance this week.
Oasis’ (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? lands at No.2 on the 2020 vinyl album countdown, with Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black at No.3. Nirvana’s Nevermind and Harry Styles’ Fine Line complete the Top 5. Kylie Minogue’s DISCO is the highest-placed album released during 2020, at No.6 with 13,500 sales on vinyl to the end of the year.
Queen’s Greatest Hits collection places at No.7, while The Beatles have two titles in the vinyl album Top 40: Abbey Road at No.15 and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band at No.37. Despite only being released on December 18, Paul McCartney’s McCartney III is at No.34.
Liam Gallagher’s “All You’re Dreaming Of,” raising funds for Action For Children, tops the vinyl singles list for the year with sales of 11,600. Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” is in runner-up spot, one of the hallowed electronic band’s three appearances in the Top 10, with “Atmosphere” at No.4 and “Transmission” at No.7.
The Rolling Stones’ lockdown-themed single “Living In A Ghost Town” is at No.3 on the vinyl singles sales chart for the year. It came out digitally in April but then appeared as a limited edition 10 inch orange vinyl release in June. Billie Eilish’s “No Time To Die,” the theme song for the pandemic-delayed James Bond movie now due for April release, completes the Top 5.
