Billie Eilish, Foo Fighters To Perform At iHeartRadio ALTer EGO
The virtual event will feature new performances, plus highlights from past years’ concerts.
The fourth annual iHeatRadio ALTer EGO festival, which celebrates the biggest names in alternative rock, will look a little different in 2021, amid the pandemic. While the January 28th event will be virtual, the free live-stream will offer fans plenty to look forward to, including new performances from Billie Eilish and the Foo Fighters. Fans will also have an opportunity to re-live some of the most iconic performances from past years’ festivities, including sets from Beck, The Killers, Weezer, and Blink 182.
Hosted by Woody of iHeartRadio ALT 98.7’s nationally-syndicated The Woody Show, the event will stream live on LiveXLive, as well as on more than 80 iHeart Alternative and Rock iHeartRadio stations across the country, beginning at 6:00 pm PST.
In addition to the artists listed above, fans can also look forward to enjoying past sets from The Black Keys, Cage The Elephant, Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, Muse, and twenty one pilots.
“(Pending a COVID test) I’ll be happy to roll up my sleeves (sport a mask, a face shield and anything else to obscure my face) and help kick off 2021 proper, with a unique ALTer Ego production that will serve as warm-up for the impending return to normalcy,” said Woody in a statement.
Weezer fans will also be thrilled about a sweepstakes (available exclusively to Capital One cardholders) which gives winners the chance to participate in the virtual ALTer EGO Capital One Trivia Challenge with the band. The Trivia Challenge winner will announce Weezer virtually during ALTer EGO, while all players will also get the opportunity to participate in an intimate virtual roundtable discussion with the band. The sweepstakes runs from December 28 through January 10. For more information, visit the official website.
Earlier this week, co-headliner Billie Eilish shared an official trailer for her eagerly-anticipated documentary, Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry. The film, which chronicles the singer-songwriter’s rise to global stardom, premieres globally on Apple TV+ on February 26, 2021, with a theatrical release to follow.
Looking ahead, Eilish is nominated in four categories at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Solo Performance, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year (for “Everything I Wanted”). Eilish’s James Bond theme, “No Time to Die” is also up for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
