Shawn Mendes, Lil Baby Added To AMA Line-Up
Performers for the November 22 awards show also include BTS, Megan Thee Stallion, Bad Bunny, and Dua Lipa.
The American Music Awards are finalizing a star-studded line-up of performers for their 48th annual ceremony. Shawn Mendes, Lil Baby, Bad Bunny, and Megan Thee Stallion are the latest additions to the November 22 broadcast.
The artists will join previously-announced performers BTS and Dua Lipa at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater, while actress, producer, and writer Taraji P. Henson will host the world’s largest fan-voted awards show.
According to today’s announcement, several of the artists will offer exclusive world premiere performances. Lil Baby will make his AMA debut by performing his hit single, “Emotionally Scarred,” live for the very first time. Bad Bunny, meanwhile, will be joined by rising Reggaeton star Jhay Cortez for his appearance. Setlists for Shawn Mendes and Megan Thee Stallion are currently under wraps.
Fans are also eagerly awaiting BTS’s appearance, which will include two songs: their chart-topping English-language hit “Dynamite,” and their forthcoming single “Life Goes On,” which drops November 20th, alongside the band’s highly-anticipated new album, BE.
Nominees were announced two weeks ago for this year’s AMAs. The Weeknd and Roddy Ricch lead with eight nominations each. Megan Thee Stallion follows with five nods, while Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, DaBaby, Doja Cat, and Lady Gaga are all up for four awards.
Bieber, Swift, Ricch, and The Weeknd are all up for Artist of the Year, alongside Post Malone, while Lewis Capaldi, DaBaby, and Lil Baby are among the contenders for New Artist of the Year.
Swift had a particularly good year at the 2019 AMAs, where she was not only honored as Artist of the Decade but also took home six awards – making her the most awarded artist in AMA history with 29 total wins. Swift also holds records for the most wins in several categories, including Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, and Favorite Pop/Rock Album.
