Niall Horan Announces Livestream Concert From Royal Albert Hall
The November 7 show will benefit out-of-work touring crew members.
Niall Horan has announced a special one-off concert with his full band at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall. The November 7 show, which will feature songs from Horan’s hit solo records (Flicker and Heartbreak Weather), will be live-streamed to fans around the world and time-zoned to specific regions. All profits from the ticketed concert will be split between Horan’s own touring crew, who have been out of work, amid the pandemic, as well as the #WeNeedCrew relief fund.
Horan, who was forced to cancel his 2020 “Nice To Meet Ya” tour earlier this year, said, “I know that live events are something we all miss, and until we are able to return I want to highlight the incredible people who work in touring that make those events possible and whose livelihoods have been severely affected.”
He continued, “I’m putting on this gig to try and raise awareness of the immense value they bring to an industry enjoyed by so many, and do something to help them and their families. I ask all my fans to support them with me and buy a ticket if you can, and I encourage all artists to do the same.”
The recently-launched#We Need Crew is a hardship fund for the touring industry and offers direct support to members of live music touring crews, as they wait to return to work. The initiative also encourages artists to support fundraising activities of their own and to raise awareness among audiences of the wider impacts of live music shutdown.
Horan’s concert will be a one-off experience, and will not be available on-demand after it has taken place. Tickets for the live-stream broadcast go on sale at 9:00 a.m. BST on Friday, October 16. Additionally, when purchasing a ticket, fans will have an opportunity to make a charitable donation to the global #WeNeedCrew relief fund and the Irish AIST hardship fund.
In March, the former One Direction member released his anticipated sophomore solo effort, Heartbreak Weather. The album, which topped the charts in the UK and Ireland, and landed at No.4 in the US, featured such singles as “No Judgement,” “Black and White,” and the top-streaming “Nice to Meet Ya.” Horan’s long-awaited follow-up to his Platinum-selling debut, Flicker (2017), also garnered warm reviews, including from Idolator, who called it “a winning collection of love songs from multiple perspectives.”
