Tubes Running In UK Again
Pioneering San Francisco rock band the Tubes have announced a 40th anniversary, nine-date tour of the UK for this coming August (above photo credit: Juergen Spachmann).
The group, known for early, outrageous tracks such as ‘White Punks On Dope’ as well as for later US pop success with songs like ‘She’s A Beauty,’ will have four original members in the line-up: larger-than-life frontman Fee Waybill, Roger Steen on guitar, Rick Anderson (bass) and Prairie Prince (drums). They’ll be joined by David Medd on keyboards, who’s played with the band since 2006.
The Tubes’ most recent album release was the 2009 compilation ‘Mondo Birthmark, Mondo Birthmark is a collection of rare early demos and unreleased recordings with cover art by Michael Cotten and Prairie Prince. The liner notes also included rare photos and new interviews with the band about their formative years in San Francisco.
The gigs will also see the Tubes playing other favourites such as ‘Sushi Girl,’ ‘Mondo Bondage’ and ‘Talk To Ya Later.’ They’ll play five shows in Germany and one in Holland in the last week of July before hitting the UK, where dates are as follows:
