Jon Bon Jovi, Dolly Parton Join Benefit For At-Risk Youth
The “Night Of Covenant House Stars” live-stream event will feature an incredible lineup of musicians and actors supporting the youth-focused organisation.
Jon Bon Jovi, Dolly Parton and Dionne Warwick are among the musical acts confirmed to play A Night Of Covenant House Stars. The live-stream will benefit Covenant House, an organisation which supports at-risk and homeless youth in the Americas. The star-studded evening, which will also feature the likes of Meryl Streep, Stephen Colbert and Diane Keaton, will air 18 May at 8:00 pm EST on the new streaming service Broadway On Demand, among other platforms.
Produced by acclaimed Broadway director and choreographer Jeff Calhoun (9 to 5: The Musical, Newsies, Bonnie & Clyde), A Night of Covenant House Stars will combine moving performances by Covenant House youth, along with dozens of stars from the stage and screen.
The evening will be hosted by six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald and John Dickerson of CBS’ 60 Minutes, while appearances will also be made by the likes of Robin Thicke, Deborah Cox, Andrew Rannells, Martin Short, Rachel Brosnahan and Zack Quinto, among many others. Fans can also stream the show on iHeartRadio Broadway, Facebook, Twitch, YouTube, and Stars in the House.
Covenant House, which has locations across 31 cities and six countries, has provided around-the-clock crisis care and ongoing support to homeless, trafficked and at-risk youth for nearly 50 years.
“This virus does not get the last word. This amazing group of stars uniting in love to help us care for kids is proof positive of that,” said President and CEO of Covenant House, Kevin Ryan, in an official statement. “Our young people don’t have the option to shelter at home without a home. For thousands of young people, Covenant House is their home. We need more food, more supplies, and we need to continue to provide staffing to care for sick and symptomatic youth.”
In addition to his support of Covenant House, Jon Bon Jovi has been active throughout the COVID-19 crisis. Most recently, he joined the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Halsey and Tony Bennett for the Jersey 4 Jersey benefit, which supported the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund. He has also signed on to perform for the virtual telethon Rise Up New York! on 11 May, which will benefit New York residents who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
