Horan looks forward to a busy year of appearances and touring in support of his much-anticipated sophomore album.

In a week of otherwise grim news, Niall Horan has brightened everyone’s Friday by releasing his highly anticipated second album, Heartbreak Weather, along with a playful video for the irresistible title track.

The former One Direction singer, who just wrapped up a weeklong residency on The Late Late Show With James Corden, has also announced additional summer dates for his extensive North American tour.

The video for ‘Heartbreak Weather’ fittingly stars Horan as a lovestruck weatherman. The vintage-themed newsroom scenes feel like a perfect match for the upbeat track, which offers a bit of 80s pop nostalgia. The fourth single off Heartbreak Weather follows the bouncy ‘No Judgement’, ballad ‘Put A Little Love On Me’ and the rock-tinged ‘Nice To Meet Ya’, which has garnered over 300 million global streams since its release in October.

The eclectic mix of singles reflects Heartbreak Weather’s range, which offers a mix of modern pop, upbeat rock, reflective folk, with a dash of vintage grooves.

Heartbreak Weather is nearly a concept album,” explained Horan in a press statement today. “I wanted to write these songs from the start of a relationship through to the end – and from different sides – instead of every song being quite sad and all about me. Because when you go through a breakup, it’s not sad all the time.”

In addition to his residency on James Corden, which included multiple live performances and, of course, an appearance on Carpool Karaoke, Horan scored a coveted musical guest spot on Saturday Night Live in December.

Horan’s forthcoming “Nice To Meet Ya” tour, which kicks off 20 April, marks the artist’s biggest North American outing to date. The first leg, through May, will include very special guests Lewis Capaldi plus FLETCHER – with whom Horan just recorded a cover of Taylor Swift’s ‘Lover’ for a Spotify Singles session. His newly-announced dates in July and August will feature special guest Sam Fischer.

Heartbreak Weather follows Horan’s 2017 debut, the folk-poppy Flicker, which not only peaked at No.1 on the Billboard 200 but also on the album charts in Canada and the artist’s native Ireland, among other territories. Flicker produced such hit singles as ‘Slow Hands’ and ‘This Town’.

Heartbreak Weather is available now and can be bought here.
