Madness Announce Show At Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre
This will mark the group’s first appearance in Southern California since Coachella Festival 2012.
British ska and pop legends Madness have just announced a show in Los Angeles on 24 May at the Greek Theatre. This will mark the group’s first appearance in Southern California since Coachella Festival 2012.
Madness – who thrilled fans in December with a three-night stint at London’s Roundhouse – will be playing dates across the US, the UK and Europe, with special stops in Mexico and the United Arab Emirates, as they celebrate 40 years together.
The one-night event in Los Angeles will feature a line-up of frontman Graham “Suggs” McPherson, keyboardist/pianist Mike “Barso” Barson, saxophonist Lee “Kix” Thompson, guitarist Chris “Chrissy Boy” Foreman, bassist Mark “Bedders” Bedford and drummer Daniel “Woody” Woodgate. The group will also be joined by special guests The English Beat and Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
Thanks to @MusicWalkofFame for inducting us today in Camden. And big thanks to @DizzeeRascal @DavidRodigan and @lynvalgolding for the kind words 🙌 pic.twitter.com/1ald8fzK5W

Hailing from London’s Camden Town, Madness led the late-70s 2-Tone ska revival, starting with their 1979 debut, One Step Beyond… The album peaked at No.2 in the UK, and remained on the Albums Chart for a whopping 78 weeks, producing such singles as ‘The Prince’, ‘My Girl’ and the title track, ‘One Step Beyond’ – a cover of a 1964 track by Jamaican ska singer Prince Buster. For the next six years, the group would be a mainstay on the British airwaves and the UK album charts, with titles like Absolutely, 7, The Rise & Fall and Keep Moving, which all landed in the Top 10. Madness also found success in the US, where they scored a Top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with the 1982 song, ‘Our House’.
For over 40 years, the enduring group have released 12 albums and nearly 20 Top 10 singles. They’ve inspired a major musical (Our House, which opened in London’s West End in 2003), were recognized with an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection in 2000 and even played Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert in 2012. Most recently, the group released a new single, ‘Bullingdon Boys’, in November and became the second act to be honoured on Music Walk Of Fame in Camden.
Tickets for Madness at the Greek Theatre will go on sale 6 March at 10:00 am PST.
