BTS Share ‘Outro: Ego’ In Trailer For Their Upcoming New Album
The K-Pop heroes’ new album, ‘Map Of The Soul: 7’ is due for release on 21 February.
BTS are back and they’ve released a new trailer for their upcoming new album, Map Of The Soul: 7, which is set for release on 21 February. Titled ‘Outro: Ego’, the latest video from the South Korean K-Pop stars, which is referred to as a “comeback trailer”, sees j-hope at the forefront of an energetic pop song underlined by an Afrobeat-inspired rhythm.
‘Outro: Ego’ also samples the beat from the intro of BTS’ debut album 2 Cool 4 Skool originally released back in June 2013.
Packed with visual effects, the trailer sees j-hope switch locations eventually arriving at a huge, colourful city at night where his image is projected onto one of the building’s big screens. You can check the video out below.
Prior To ‘Outro: Ego’, BTS shared a striking new art film which is sound-tracked by their new single ‘Black Swan’. It was released in the form of a new artistic dance film, with the song sound-tracking an elaborate performance by Michal Rynia and Nastja Bremec Rynia of the MN Dance Company from Slovenia.
Last week, BTS debuted ‘Black Swan’ live for the first time. Appearing on James Corden’s The Late Late Show, the K-Pop giants delivered a suitably mysterious performance of the track, previously described by NME as a “haunting melancholy curveball”.
Meanwhile, BTS have announced a huge show at London’s Twickenham Stadium as part of their 2020 Map of the Soul world tour. After Big Hit Entertainment previously teased that the K-Pop group would hit the road once more, it was recently confirmed that they will play London’s Twickenham Stadium between 3-4 July. They’ll then continue the European leg of the tour with dates in Berlin and Barcelona.
The past year has been a transformative one for BTS and the global music scene in general, as BTS was one of the first K-pop bands to truly break the US (and UK) market. They became the first Korean act to score a No.1 UK album, the first to perform on SNL and present at the Grammy Awards and cracked the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, including the Nicki Minaj collaboration, ‘Idol’. They also broke numerous YouTube records, when ‘Boy With Luv’ surpassed the record for the biggest 24-hour debut after the video amassed 74.6 million views in one day.
