Mystery Jets To Host ‘Speakers Corner’ Fans Event To Discuss Climate Change And More
The event promises “A series of filmed round table talks with a host of incredible activists, writers and comedians joining us to tackle some of the biggest discussions today.”
Mystery Jets have announced that they will be hosting an evening of conversation that will address climate change, mental health, gender equality and more. The band will hold a series of round table talks entitled ‘Speakers Corner’ at an as yet unrevealed Central London location inspired by the themes of their upcoming seventh album, A Billion Heartbeats.
The ‘Speakers Corner’ evening takes place on 21 January and a description of the event reads: “A series of filmed round table talks with a host of incredible activists, writers and comedians joining us to tackle some of the biggest discussions today, including; the climate emergency, gender equality, mental health, the refugee crisis and inclusivity.”
Frontman Blaine Harrison previously told NME that A Billion Heartbeats sees them tackling the state of the world for the first time and how it proved to be one of their most “direct” albums so far.
“There’s always a fear as an artist, if you engage in what’s going on in the world, there’s a danger of alienating your audience,” he said. “It’s something we’ve always been mindful about and approaching this record, it is a collection of songs about what’s going on in the outside world. We’ve been very mindful about not being too on the nose, it’s definitely not preachy.”
Giving fans the opportunity to join them, Mystery Jets shared a link for people to sign up for ‘Speakers Corner’, which you can check out here.
Originally scheduled for 2019 release, Mystery Jets’ new A Billion Heartbeats album was pushed back after frontman Blaine Harrison was taken to hospital and underwent surgery to treat an infection. It will now be released Spring 2020.
