Jeff Goldblum Joins Forces With Miley Cyrus On New Single ‘The Thrill Is Gone’
Today also saw the release of his new single, ‘The Cat’, a peppy jazz number that embodies Goldblum’s debonaire spirit.
Hollywood’s renaissance man and beloved cabaret act, Jeff Goldblum announced today he’s joined up with global pop star, songwriter and actress Miley Cyrus for his new song, ‘The Thrill is Gone,’ set for release next week on 1 November, via Decca Records.
Today also saw the release of his new single, ‘The Cat’, a peppy jazz number that embodies Goldblum’s debonaire spirit. Along with the new single, Golblum shared an official music video of him hamming it up at Frank Sinatra’s former residence in Palm Springs, where he did the cover shoot for his album.
For his second studio album with The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This, Goldblum enlisted to help of a number of famous friends and collaborators who make guest appearances on the album.
When planning his follow-up album, the jazz pianist and signer suggested the collaboration to his friend Miley. The unlikely duo has recorded a brand-new version of ‘The Thrill is Gone’, previously recorded by Chet Baker. Miley’s powerful and characterful voice is sensitively accompanied by Jeff in his inimitable style.
Speaking about the forthcoming release, Goldblum shared his excitement about their collaboration.
“Hearing the one and only Miley Cyrus sing one of our arrangements is both surreal and mesmerizing. I can’t stop listening. It’s perfect.”
‘The Thrill Is Gone’, is the fourth single off Goldblum’s forthcoming album, following the previously shared and popular 60s number, ‘Make Someone Happy’, that sees Goldblum grooving with Grammy-award winning vocalist Gregory Porter.
“Happy is an understatement,” Goldblum wrote on Instagram. “I am in the seventh circle of ecstasy to have Gregory Porter on the next single off my new album.”
Other special guests include Anna Calvi on ‘Four On Six’/’Broken English’, singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten on the classic Irving Berlin number, ‘Let’s Face The Music And Dance’, Fiona Apple on the 1954 Frank Sinatra hit ‘Don’t Worry ‘Bout Me’ and singer-songwriter Inara George on the Sonny & Cher favourite, ‘The Beat Goes On’.
I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This is out on 1 November and can be pre-ordered here.
