Maroon 5 Tease ‘Memories’, Share New Art
The cryptic image posted on social media hints at the release of a new song on 20 September.
Maroon 5 have shared new art on social media, which hints at the release of a new song on 20 September, with just the message “Memories 9.20.19”. The image pictures a hand rummaging through a package labelled “memories”, suggesting that Maroon 5 are perhaps going to take a wistful look back over their past.
With these guys, however, who knows what to expect? They’ve made an art out of always pushing forward, and, in the process, surprising their fans at every turn. All we know for sure right now is that ‘Girls Like You’ was their last single and the last new music they released officially was their memorable cover version of Bob Marley And The Wailers’ ‘Three Little Birds’, recorded for Hyundai’s Santa Fe campaign for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Also during 2018, Maroon 5 embarked on a lengthy North American tour in support of their most recent studio album, 2017’s widely-acclaimed Red Pill Blues. More recently, the band have been involved in several high-profile projects. In January 2019, band members Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael, with Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard, performed Chris Cornell’s ‘Seasons’, at the I Am the Highway: A Tribute To Chris Cornell even in LA, while in February, Maroon 5 headlined the Super Bowl LIII halftime show in Atlanta, Georgia, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with guest appearances from rappers Big Boi and Travis Scott.
In July this year, the band’s 2014 smash hit ‘Sugar’ surpassed three billion views on YouTube, making Maroon 5 the first band to achieve this feat (the song is currently the seventh most-viewed music video on YouTube). Originally recorded for the band’s 2014 album, V, ‘Sugar’ received a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards in 2016.
With a lot of memories already in the bag, we can’t wait to see what these new “memories” may be made of.
