Listen To Tedeschi Trucks Band’s ‘High & Mighty’ And Watch Tokyo Video
The song, written by Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall II, was previously only available as a special edition 12-inch disc as part of Record Store Day.
Tedeschi Trucks Band have given their fans an audio-visual treat in the form of a behind-the-scenes video filmed during their spring shows in Tokyo, set to the studio version of ‘High & Mighty.’
The song, written by Derek Trucks and his longtime collaborator Doyle Bramhall II, was previously only available as a special edition 12-inch disc as part of Record Store Day. It’s the title track from a four-song EP that will be released by Fantasy on 27 September. The release date is also the opening night of the band’s annual residency at the Beacon Theatre, where they’ll play six shows over nine nights.
The footage shows the band in various locations, including on stage, during their three-night booking at the Tokyo Dome Hall during their 2019 Signs tour. The EP will feature ‘High & Mighty’ alongside two other songs from the recording sessions for Signs, which was released as their fourth studio set in February. The album topped both Billboard’s Blues and Americana charts, reached No. 28 on the Billboard 200 and topped the UK Americana listing.
The other new songs are a live version of that album’s ‘Shame,’ recorded at the Chicago Theatre in January 2018, and the new TTB original ‘All You Can Do,’ a waltz-tempo number written by TTB’s Mike Mattison. The EP also the band’s reading of Scott Boyer’s ballad ‘All My Friends,’ recorded by Gregg Allman and featured on his debut solo album of 1973, Laid Back. Here’s a reminder of the beautiful original:
Allman’s Laid Back album has just been reissued in a remastered and expanded deluxe edition on 2CDs and digitally. It’s available as a 180 gram black vinyl version and in a 180 gram, limited purple and white marbled colour vinyl edition. TTB were inspired to cover ‘All My Friends’ by Allman’s death during the Signs recording sessions, and by the passing of fellow mentors Butch Trucks, Colonel Bruce Hampton and Leon Russell.
The High & Mighty EP is released on 27 September. Pre-order it here.
