Country Chart-Topper Billy Currington Provides ‘Details’ With New Single
The track arrives as Currington continues his ‘Stay Up ‘Til The Sun Tour,’ with dates extending into autumn 2019.
Mercury Nashville hitmaker Billy Currington today (19 July) releases his new single ‘Details,’ which is officially due to hit country radio on 5 August. It arrives as Currington, who already has a remarkable 11 No. 1 hits to his name, continues his Stay Up ‘Til The Sun Tour, for which dates extend into the autumn.
‘Details’ was written by Nicolle Galyon, Mark Trussell and Stephen Lee Olsen, with lyrics describing a man who is so enamoured with his girlfriend that everything else in his life fades into the background when she is near. It includes a namecheck for ABC late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel in its second verse. The song is the first new music by the native of Savannah, Georgia since last year’s ‘Bring It On Over.’
The last of his six hugely successful studio albums, Summer Forever, came out in June 2015 and debuted at No. 3 on Bilboard’s country album chart. ‘Details’ is expected to be included on the singer’s upcoming seventh album.
Currington’s stellar career has been strewn with hits since he arrived in 2003 with ‘Walk A Little Straighter.’ uDiscover Music takes a detailed look at his catalogue in this illustrated countdown of 20 of his biggest songs over more than 15 years of recording. Two of his singles, 2005’s ‘Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right’ and 2009’s ‘People Are Crazy,’ are certified double platinum by the RIAA, and he has four other platinum-selling hits to his name. These are 2006’s ‘Good Directions,’ the 2010 release ‘Let Me Down Easy,’ 2013’s ‘Hey Girl’ and his most recent No. 1, the 2016 single ‘Do I Make You Wanna.’
Hampton’s tour continues tonight (19) at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom in New Hampshire before moving to Bold Point Park in Providence, RI tomorrow. The last show on the schedule is in Fort Myers, Florida on 19 October.
