Watch Snoop Dogg Sing His Own Praises In I Wanna Thank Me Video
The new song also serves as the title track from the hip-hop superstar’s new album of the same name, due out later this summer.
Snoop Dogg hasn’t managed to stay in the game for nearly three decades without a little help from his friends. However, it seems the person he has to thank the most is, well, himself. The hip-hop superstar pays tribute to his longevity in the highlight reel video for his new track, ‘I Wanna Thank Me,’ which you can check out below.
The Dah Dah-directed clip opens with Snoop on the podium delivering his Walk of Fame speech. Scenes of him in concert, at photo shoots, running from private planes and cars to gigs, hanging with fans and coaching a youth football league are interspersed between images from his speech.
“I wanna thank me for believing in me. I wanna thank me for doing all this hard work. I wanna thank me for having no days off. I wanna thank me for never quitting,” Snoop says over footage of him rocking stages, flying around the world and supporting charitable causes.
Once the song fully kicks in, the visuals turn to reflect on the dues the rapper had paid and his accomplishments. The video traces Snoop’s story from his humble, Long Beach, California beginnings and his run-ins with the law to his rise to fame as well as his contributions to the community and family life.
“Who did it like me?/ Who want the dice? N_a bet it/ Twenty-plus years, I ain’t even gotta sell it/ I ain’t even got to show up to get money/ Mail it, I’m going in,” he raps.
‘I Wanna Thank Me’ also serves as the title track from Snoop Dogg’s new album of the same name, which is set for release via Empire Records later this summer. The rap superstar’s 17th studio album to date, I Wanna Thank Me follows on from 2018’s gospel album, Bible Of Love.
