Of Monsters And Men Return With Powerful New Single ‘Alligator’

Icelandic indie quintet Of Monsters And Men make their much-anticipated return with the new single ‘Alligator’, their first in four years.
The bombastic new single is just a taste of a forthcoming album that’s in the works and set for release later this year.
Written by the band’s co-vocalist, Nanna Bryndis Hilmarsdóttir, the singer also takes centre stage on the track, with her vocals soaring on the empowering anthem.
“I am open and I am restless/Let me feel it out, let it all come out,” Hilmarsdóttir sings on this anthemic single.
‘Alligator’ sees the band embracing a harder rock sound and moving away from their more folk-based aesthetic of their last album, 2015’s Beneath The Skin.
“We are so excited about ‘Alligator’, the first release from our upcoming album,” shared the band in a statement. “The song very much speaks to the excitement and energy that we feel about being back. We can’t wait to share more music and see everyone again.”
The song was co-produced by OMAM and Rich Costey, who’ve also worked with MUSE, Vampire Weekend and Chvrches.
Earlier this week the band teased fans with footage of them in studio leading up to the release of ‘Alligator’.
Of Monsters And Men made their international breakthrough with their 2011 debut, My Head Is An Animal, thanks to the smash success of their single ‘Little Talks’. The single made history, becoming the first song by an Icelandic band to cross 1 billion streams on Spotify and earned a quintuple-platinum certification from the RIAA.
The album’s success pushed the band into the global stage, leading to performance on Saturday Night Live, blockbuster soundtrack placements and main stage slots at every major festival including Coachella, Lollapalooza and Firefly, among others.
The band is currently booked to play the Life Is Beautiful festival in Las Vegas on 22-20 September, but no future tour dates have been confirmed.

no one would even know “Alligator” is from Of Monsters And Men. The drums are not right, the trumpet is not right, the voices are not right, the guitars are not right.
This song is a fail. I’ve been to two live concerts. Anybody who has been to a live concert or even heard them on the radio knows this is not OMAM
