Patsy Cline And Loretta Lynn’s Friendship To Be Portrayed In TV Movie

The friendship between Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn is to be the subject of a TV movie to air in late 2019. The film will depict the relationship which began in the late 1950s, when Cline was already a star and Lynn was setting out on her epic career path.
The story will cover the close affinity between the two country singers, who bonded over marital problems and the challenges facing female artists in the industry of the day. The pair also toured together before Cline perished in a plane crash at the age of just 30, in 1963.
A report in Deadline, and in the film’s listing on the IMDb website, says that the part of Cline will be played by Megan Hilty, known for the movies Smash in 2012 and BrainDead in 2016, among other projects. Lynn will be portrayed by the Tony Award-winning Broadway star Jessie Mueller, who played Carole King in Beautiful and Jenna Hunterson in Waitress.
The part of Charlie Dick, Cline’s second husband, to whom she was married at the time of her death, is to be played by Kyle Schmid, who was Alex Caulder in the series Six. Dick outlived Cline by more than 50 years, dying at the age of 81 in 2015. Joe Tippett, from the 2018 series Rise, takes the role of Loretta’s husband and father of their four children, Doolittle “Mooney” Lynn.
In an interesting twist, the film is being co-produced by the respective daughters of the country stars, Julie Fudge (Cline) and Patsy Lynn Russell (Lynn). Currently filming in Nashville, it’s being directed by Callie Khouri, the creator of the hit series Nashville and, earlier, the writer of Thelma & Louise and other movies. The writer of the new film is Angelina Burnett, producer of such series as The Americans, Hannibal and Genius.

She only had 4 when Patsy died. The twins were born a little after Patsy’s death.

Can’t wait until the movie comes out both stars were always my favorite, Patsy was playing in my home since I was a little kid my aunt ran around with her and Jimmy Dean when they used to tour and sing down in Waldorf Maryland at The Wigwam my aunt was a little but hand Patsy loved that.
