Bastille have shared their brand new song, ‘Doom Days’, which is out now. The production was handled by Dan Smith, Mark Crew and Bastille and the band have also revealed the official video for the song, a powerful performance clip, which you can check out below.

Haunting and melancholic, the new track’s lyrics reflect the increasingly uncertain 21st Century world around us, with Dan Smith singing lines such as “There must be something in the cool aid/ Cruising through the doom days/ God knows what is real and what is fake” and “Think I’m addicted to my phone/ My scrolling horror show/ I’m live streaming the final days of Rome.”

The London-based band recently completed a full-scale European tour which included UK and Irish dates and finished with a show at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome on 10 March. ‘Doom Days’ is their first new music since their low-key mixtape Other People’s Heartaches, which was released in December 2018.

“The mix tapes are a place to respectfully play around with pop,” Dan Smith told the NME at the time of Other People’s Heartaches’ release. “Pop music is brilliant in its simplicity and how that makes it potentially quite malleable. I’m sure some people see reinterpreting other people’s songs as sacrilege but it’s something people have done forever. I think there’s something brilliant in music that connects with people being able to echo on through time via other people’s interpretations.”

Bastille are also playing a string of live dates across the early part of the summer.  For tickets and further information, please visit the band’s official website.

Bastille play the following shows:

28 May: Refinery Gallery, Bratislava, Slovakia
8 June: Rock Im Park, Nord, Germany
9 June: Rock Am Ring, Nurburg, Germany
10 June: Pink Pop, Landgraaf, The Netherlands.
