Danzig Preps Vampire Movie And Elvis Covers Album
The Misfits frontman will be directing a “vampire Spaghetti Western” film and releasing his long-awaited album of Elvis Presley covers this fall.
The legendary Misfits frontman Glen Danzig announced he’ll be directing a “vampire Spaghetti Western” film and releasing his long-awaited album of Elvis Presley covers this fall.
The rock icon has been compared to the King his whole career for his style and sinister croon, and now his long-time tribute project has come to fruition.
“The long-awaited Danzig Sings Elvis covers record has now been scheduled for a fall release,” states a new post on his official Facebook page. “We will post the cover and tracks in the coming weeks.”
Danzig has been talking about his Elvis project for years, even telling Rolling Stone back in 2015 on how the King got him into music.
“When I was a kid, I was cutting school pretending I was sick and I would lie at home watching old movies, and Jailhouse Rock came on with Elvis. I was, like, ‘I want to do this. This is great.’”
In the same update, the busy frontman also revealed he’s writing and directing a feature film.
“Mr. Danzig has also just put the finishing touches on the script for his next film which will be a vampire Spaghetti-Western and Danzig will direct. Casting will begin shortly… Busy year for the Man!!”
This isn’t the first film project from “Evil Elvis”. Last summer, he announced that he would be writing, directing, and scoring an anthology film based on his horror comic series Verotik, with filming reportedly starting last fall.
Even with all of these projects in the works, Danzig also has two 2019 shows with the “Original Misfits” line-up. The first show takes place later this month on 27 April at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, while the second will be on 29 June at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
