Rammstein Unveil ‘Deutschland’ Video And New Album Details
‘Deutschland’ is the band’s first single in eight years and the first song off their forthcoming seventh studio album, simply titled Rammstein.
German industrial outfit Rammstein revealed the nine-minute film for their new single ‘Deutschland’ and shared details for their long-awaited studio album.
Directed by Specter Berlin, the provocative video is full of pyrotechnics and cinematic spectacle in this sprawling film that spans centuries of history.
“Germany – my heart in flames, Want to love and condemn you/Germany – your breath cold,
So young, and yet so old,” the band sings in the chorus.
‘Deutschland’ is the band’s first single in eight years and the first song off their forthcoming seventh studio album, simply titled Rammstein. The self-titled record is set for release on 17 May via UME/Spinefarm in Europe and Caroline Records in the US.
This marks Rammstein’s first studio album since 2009’s Liebe Ist Für Alle Da. The new record was produced by Olsen Involtini, along with the band. The German firebrands have been teasing fans on socials for days leading up to the video’s release.
Talking with Metal Hammer last month, guitarist Richard Kruspe discussed how the new album came to be:
“We were talking about harmonies, how certain kinds of melodies can change things,” Kruspe said. Things we never really cared about in the beginning, but things that matter more now. It’s more interesting for me as a musician to see how the vocals fit into a song, and which melody fits in that.”
In another recent interview with Metal Wani, Krupse also talked about the motivation behind the new record.
“’Every time people talk Rammstein, it’s about fire, it’s all about the show. Nobody talks about the music anymore for Rammstein and it kind of bothered me. I was thinking, ‘I want to do another record. It has to be musical in a way that can really stand out from other records’. That was my goal, or our goal.”
Rammstein will also be heading out on the road across Europe this summer staring on 27 May at VELTINS-Arena in Westfalen, Germany before wrapping up in Austria on 23 August. Tickets are available on pre-sale for the 2019 stadium tour.
