US DJ Trio Cheat Codes have remixed Sam Smith and Normani’s global smash, ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ and you can hear their version below.
A much in-demand electronic music DJ trio, Cheat Codes consist of KEVI (Kevin Ford), Trevor Dahl, and Matthew Russell. They are notable for their gold-selling 2016 single ‘Sex’, which sampled the chorus from “Let’s Talk About Sex” by Salt-N-Pepa, and their 2017 single ‘No Promises’, which featured American pop superstar Demi Lovato and peaked within the top 40 of the US, UK and Australia. The latter track was also certified platinum is the US.
Cheat Codes have also supplied remixes for artists as diverse as U2 (‘Love Is Bigger Than Anything In Its Way’), Thirty Seconds To Mars (‘Dangerous Night’) and Katy Perry ft. Nicki Minaj (‘Swish Swish’).
Released in January through Capitol Records, ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ has already racked up over 80 million cumulative streams worldwide and looks like being one of 2019’s biggest hits. Hailing it as a “Song You Need to Know,” Rolling Stone described it as “deliciously retro” and noted, “Their soulful, understated delivery suggests a moody narrative of two people looking to get an ex off their mind, falling into the arms of someone exciting, nameless and new.” Calling it “one of the first genuinely great songs of 2019,” Idolator noted, “they expertly capture the frustration and loneliness of heartbreak, bottling it and presenting it as something both deeply personal and infinitely relatable.” Entertainment Weekly observed, “Sam Smith and Normani have teamed up to soundtrack your weekend festivities.”
‘Dancing With A Stranger’ is the first new music from Sam Smith in 2019 and follows his summer 2018 global hit with Calvin Harris, ‘Promises.’ Smith recently performed the song with Harris, Dua Lipa and Rag N Bone Man on 20 February at the BRIT Awards, which was live streamed on YouTube.
Already a three-time BRIT winner, Smith has won four Grammy awards, an Oscar, a Golden Globe, three Billboard Music Awards, a BET Award and six MOBO Awards, among others.
