YG Drops New Single And Video ‘Laugh Now Kry Later’
The song, which celebrates living in the moment, is the title track to the rapper’s forthcoming fifth studio album.
Ahead of the weekend, YG dropped a new single ‘Laugh Now Kry Later’, as well as a carefree video. The Compton rapper also announced that the song would be the title track off his hotly-anticipated fifth studio album.
Produced by Pasqué, FranchiseDidIt and Iceberg, ‘Laugh Now Kry Later’ is a proclamation to live life to the fullest. The accompanying video, which features the artist riding down the Pacific Coast Highway in a shiny Lamborghini, reflects this message, while also paying homage to the late rapper Nipsey Hussle – a fellow Angelino who was tragically killed last year.
The downbeat track follows single ‘Konclusions’ from YG and Kehlani, released on Valentine’s Day.
“This song is the title track from my upcoming album Laugh Now Kry Later,” said the artist in an official statement. “There’s more heat coming when we’re back outside again, but wanted to give my fans something to vibe to while we’re all inside. Stay home, stay safe and stay dangerous.”
Laugh Now Kry Later will follow the rapper’s fourth studio album, 2019’s 4REAL 4REAL. The best-selling title featured the lead single ‘Stop Snitchin’, which YG premiered at Coachella last year, as well as ‘Go Loko’, featuring Tyga and Jon Z. The LP debuted at No.7 on the Billboard 200, making 4REAL 4REAL YG’s fourth consecutive Top Ten album in the US.
Consequence Of Sound praised that, “The hardest-hitting instrument on 4REAL 4REAL…is YG’s voice…His delivery provides the sharp punctuation to production that is worthy of praise for maintaining a consistent level of craft and being impossibly catchy, if not necessarily the most exciting the rap world has ever heard.” They added that the album, “Carries some of the most introspective writing from YG to date”.
The rapper, who released his debut LP My Krazy Life in 2014, burst onto the scene in 2009, releasing a series of mixtapes, and collaborating with the likes of Ty Dolla $ign, Nipsey Hussle, Snoop Dogg and Tyga.
