Go-Go’s Go Into Hall Of Fame
Female power-pop pioneers the Go-Go’s were inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame on Saturday, playing a special set at the 15th annual ceremony that opened the venue’s 2014 season.
The group, famed for hits like ‘We Got The Beat’ and ‘Our Lips Are Sealed,’ were inducted by Natasha Bedingfield, who acknowledged their groundbreaking self-determination, writing, singing and playing their own material. “We started a little punk band less than a mile from here,” observed guitarist Jane Wiedlin, talking about the group’s early endeavours playing venues such as the Whisky A Go Go after their formation in 1978. The Go-Go’s first played at the Hollywood Bowl in 1982.
The band’s induction set ended with a performance of ‘We Got The Beat’ that featured the help of a drum corps of Trojans from the University of Southern California.
