Tori Kelly Teams Up With Babyface For First Holiday Album
The forthcoming ‘A Tori Kelly Christmas’ offers original material and yuletide classics.
Two-time Grammy winner Tori Kelly has announced her first-ever holiday album, A Tori Kelly Christmas, out October 30 via School Boy/Capitol Records. The singer-songwriter teamed up with Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, who not only served as co-executive producer on the album, alongside Scooter Braun, but also lent his vocals for a duet of the classic holiday tune “Let it Snow.”
Kelly shared the news of her album on socials today, exclaiming, “this is something I’ve been wanting to do for SO long and now I get to finally share these songs with you.” While a tracklist has not yet been revealed, a press release confirms that A Tori Kelly Christmas will include two original songs, in addition to yuletide favorites.
The Los Angeles-based artist was also thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the best-selling singer, songwriter, and producer, Babyface. “I’m so grateful to Babyface for helping me create an album that I am so proud of,” Kelly said. “I still can’t believe that I got to work with such a legend on my first-ever Christmas album. He really brought my vision to life and made every song so special.”
A Tori Kelly Christmas follows Kelly’s bracingly-candid third studio album, Inspired By True Events (2019), as well as her EP, Solitude, which was released in August. As referenced in the title, the five-song collection was primarily written while Kelly was in isolation, amid the coronavirus, and was recorded entirely at her home studio. The artist, who first gained exposure by sharing performances to YouTube, said that the process for Solitude reminded her of those early days. “In some ways, it felt like I was going back to my roots, when I would be in my room, making songs and posting covers on YouTube,” she recalled.
A Tori Kelly Christmas will be available on October 30 and can be presaved here.
