Congratulations to Lana Del Rey, whose sophomore Polydor album ‘Ultraviolence’ became her second consecutive UK No. 1 long player yesterday. The single ‘West Coast’ improved 39-36, and the New York singer-songwriter’s first album ‘Born To Die’ had a significant upswing too, rising 55-25 in its 125th chart week. The new album has also powered straight to the summit in Australia, New Zealand and Denmark, with many more charts to be reported.

Now it’s emerged that another track from ‘Ultraviolence’ that’s bubbling in the lower reaches of the UK singles chart, ‘Brooklyn Baby,’ was due to feature Lou Reed. The song contains a lyrical mention of the great American artist, and Del Rey had said earlier that she wanted to work with him.

Last October, Del Rey flew out to meet Reed, in a meeting arranged by her music publisher, but almost immediately she landed, he passed away, at the age of 71.
